For this option, you will present an argumentative claim and back it up with your literary analysis and research. Select a long reading or two short stories that have something in common, and present your thorough analysis of the text(s). Your essay should go beyond the common interpretation of the text and evoke critical thinking.
Essayist will need to know about Vietnam history and some literature from this era. “Novel without a name” by Duong Thu Huong is the book that I would like this essay to be written about.
We have been discussing quite a bit in class about authenticity and how history is influenced by the literature of that specific time. I personally thought the book was too romantic to be considered realistic. This romanticism could be part of the argument if the essayist agrees.
